ACERA welcomes Chongqing Petroleum and Gas Exchange delegation to Perth
The ACERA recently welcomed the Chongqing Petroleum and Gas Exchange (CQPGX www.chinacqpgx.com) in Perth on their landmark visit to Australia. Hosted at industry favourite modern Australian restaurant, the George, the dinner featured CQPGX representatives from major petroleum locations throughout China including Chengdu, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chongqing and Urumqi.
The CQPGX is a national energy trading centre jointly promoted by the NDRC, National Energy Administration and Chongqing Municipal People’s Government. The Exchange provides a trading venue for petroleum products, national gas as well as petrochemicals. The CQPGX forms part of the price liberalisation initiative in China and is one of two current hub projects the other being the Shanghai Exchange.
With China’s already huge and every growing demand for natural gas, the main purpose of the delegation’s visit to both WA and QLD was to deepen their understanding of Australia gas market, especially given the nation is the number one LNG exporter in the world.
The dinner was an excellent opportunity to share and deepen knowledge of the two nations’ respective gas industries and demand profiles as well as share ideas for future collaborations. The delegation will visit various companies in Perth active in the WA gas export sector before heading to Brisbane for further visits linked to the East Coast CSG LNG projects.
