2019 Oil & Gas Careers Seminar

The Australia Chinese Energy And Resource Association(ACERA) successfully held its inaugural oil and gas careers event at the Perth Convention Centre on Thursday with 110 attendees. The event is the only one of its kind in recent times for WA specifically targeted towards graduate opportunities in the petroleum sector.
A host of prominent Australian and multinational enterprises contributed valuable knowledge and advice at the event including Australian Study & Visa Services, Equity Lifting Solutions, Fluor, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Sapura Energy, Schlumberger, Shell, TechnipFMC, Woodside and World Wide Cables among many others.
As one of the lynchpins of our state’s economy and an important source of demand for young talent, the event helped fill an important knowledge gap in the local employment market for graduates and final year students seeking opportunities.
The main objectives of the seminar were to provide students with:
• Valuable intel on working in the sector
• Insights into employment trends
• Awareness of graduate and internship positions
• Expert guidance for international students
Key themes discussed at the event included the importance of networking, creativity and the willingness to adopt skills outside the norm and strategies for international students in a globally connected oilfield.
The event was sponsored by major partners in the WA petroleum sector Woodside, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and Equity Lifting Solutions.
